Plant Care Guide
Copenhagen's indoor climate presents unique challenges for houseplants—central heating dries the air in winter, while long summer days provide abundant light. Follow these guidelines to keep your plants healthy year-round.
Watering
Check soil moisture before watering by inserting your finger 2–3 cm deep. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom, then empty saucers. Most plants need less water in winter when growth slows. Overwatering is the most common cause of plant death in Danish homes.
Light
South-facing windows provide the brightest light; north-facing rooms suit low-light tolerant species like sansevieria and zz plants. Rotate pots quarterly so all sides receive equal light and growth stays balanced.
Humidity
Indoor humidity in Copenhagen apartments often drops below 30% in winter. Group plants together, use pebble trays with water, or place humidifiers nearby for tropical species. Misting provides temporary relief but is not a substitute for consistent humidity.
Feeding
Fertilise during the growing season (March–September) with diluted liquid feed every 2–4 weeks. Reduce or stop feeding in winter. We stock organic plant food at the studio from 89 DKK per bottle.
Repotting
Repot when roots circle the pot bottom or growth stalls. Spring is ideal timing. Use peat-free compost suited to your plant type. Our repotting service costs 195 DKK including compost and labour.
